Cyprus

The Republic of Cyprus occupies the southern part of the island of Cyprus, in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The island’s territory (and its capital, Nicosia) are divided in two, with the north under Turkish rule. The island’s beaches and inland countryside, with their vineyards, are renowned. The coastal town of Paphos contains archaeological sites linked to the cult of Aphrodite: ruins of palaces, tombs, and villas decorated with mosaics.
